Pumpkin seeds

Who doesnt love to pop open dried pumpkin seeds? I recently tried that with cooked ones..because I was too lazy to dry them in a clean space, and discovered that easier to pop those than dried ones. Bite just behind the fleshy part, and the whole fleshy part pops out.
Note of caution: However amazing it is, it's to be tried only when you are alone, lest a manners nazi gets a fit. For a more civilized/ less disgusting version, one might try popping seeds with nails. I just tried, and it was messier than the bite method.
Protest against unfairness: The same manners nazi will not object to someone biting off a piece of meat from a bone..

Somebody's Grandpa..

Sticking out your palm with a lozenge in it to a random coughing old man in a bus..

Small things that make our day :)

Resharing the delightful poem..
Somebody's Mother
- Mary Dow Brine (1816-1913)
The woman was old and ragged and gray
And bent with the chill of the Winter's day.
The street was wet with a recent snow
And the woman's feet were aged and slow.
She stood at the crossing and waited long,
Alone, uncared for, amid the throng
Of human beings who passed her by
Nor heeded the glance of her anxious eyes.
Down the street, with laughter and shout,
Glad in the freedom of "school let out,"
Came the boys like a flock of sheep,
Hailing the snow piled white and deep.
Past the woman so old and gray
Hastened the children on their way.
Nor offered a helping hand to her -
So meek, so timid, afraid to stir
Lest the carriage wheels or the horses' feet
Should crowd her down in the slippery street.
At last came one of the merry troop,
    The gayest laddie of all the group;
He paused beside her and whispered low,
"I'll help you cross, if you wish to go."
Her aged hand on his strong young arm
She placed, and so, without hurt or harm,
He guided the trembling feet along,
Proud that his own were firm and strong.
Then back again to his friends he went,
His young heart happy and well content.
"She's somebody's mother, boys, you know,
For all she's aged and poor and slow,
"And I hope some fellow will lend a hand
To help my mother, you understand,
"If ever she's poor and old and gray,
When her own dear boy is far away."
And "somebody's mother" bowed low her head
In her home that night, and the prayer she said
Was "God be kind to the noble boy,
Who is somebody's son, and pride and joy!"

:)

Recently read a blog - 1000awesomethings.com..Anecdotes, which might seem mundane, but actually, looking back, are quite hilarious.

Some of my happy/ funny moments this week..
Missing 2 buses in a row:
For a change I got ready on time, and rushed to get the bus that would take me to college on time..there are 2 buses 12 and 35, 12 is faster and takes a shorter route to college. I saw the bus approaching and crossed the street breaking into a sprint. 12 was just approaching and 35's driver saw me running, so waited for me. I just ignored the waiting driver and ran to 12, which was a full bus, and both the buses left sans me. There goes my rare chance of reaching class punctually.

I was in my Project partner's lab, and his labmates love playing football. One guy in the lab set up a contraption such that the football, triggered by keyboard motion, would fall on his labmate's head. But he gave the trick away as he was too insistent that the guy move his keyboard. :)

Cheer meets you unexpectedly down the lane.  After all life is all about finding cheer in small things and achieving overall happiness by counting these daily blessings.
